David Boaz of the Cato Institute is taking some comfort that Americans are at last becoming aware of how our Constitution is being ignored and shredded by the federal government. To that I say AMEN, but like him, I am frustrated that it is coming so late, at least 60 years late. It was the intent of our Founding Fathers that the federal government have only those powers enumerated in the Constitution; that was its function. Beginning with FDR’s New Deal, federal authority has grown exponentially. I wonder if we have the intestinal fortitude to really start chopping the federal government down to Constitutional size.
